Understanding the Formula
Day Count = End Date - Start Date (+ 1 if end date is included). Business days exclude Saturdays and Sundays from the total count.

Start: Jan 1, 2024, End: Dec 31, 2024, include end date. Total: 366 days (2024 is a leap year), approximately 262 weekdays.
Business days in a month
Start: Mar 1 2024, End: Mar 31 2024, exclude weekends. Result: 21 business days (weekdays only).
Frequently Asked Questions
Does "exclude weekends" also exclude holidays?
No. This calculator only excludes Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are still counted as weekdays. For holiday-aware calculations, you would need to manually subtract known holidays.
Why does the day count differ by one from what I expect?
This usually depends on whether you include the end date. Counting "from January 1 to January 3" yields 2 days exclusive or 3 days inclusive.
Assumptions & Limitations
- Based on the Gregorian calendar; does not handle historical calendar systems.
- Leap years are accounted for in all date calculations.
- Weekend exclusion only removes Saturdays and Sundays; public holidays are not excluded.
